Description
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) was first discovered as a T cell growth factor as it is a potent growth, survival, and differentiation factor for T lymphocytes, thereby playing a major role in activating immune responses. On the other hand, IL-2 is involved in immune suppression against self and other antigens by promoting the survival and function of regulatory T cells. It is put a lot of effort into designing various IL-2 constructs in order to enable the treatment of different types of diseases, especially cancer and autoimmune diseases.
