Immune Checkpoint Proteins

Immune checkpoint proteins are regulatory molecules on immune cells that help maintain self-tolerance and prevent excessive immune responses. They act as on/off switches that control immune activation. While essential for preventing autoimmunity, some cancers exploit these protein, such as PD-1, PD-L1, and CTLA-4, to evade immune detection.
