Cluster of differentiation 19 (CD19) is a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a pivotal role in B cell development and function. It is expressed on the surface of B cells from early pre-B cell stages to mature B cells and is involved in B cell receptor (BCR) signaling and activation. Due to its consistent expression on B cell malignancies, such as B cell lymphomas and leukemia, CD19 has emerged as a key target for immunotherapies. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies directed against CD19 have demonstrated remarkable success in treating these malignancies.
